IKARUS

First aircraft manufacturer in unified country, Ikarus Tvornica Aero i Hydroplana inaugurated 1924 at Novi Sad by German industrialist Hugo Stinnes, making SM 2-seat flying-boat designed by Josef Mickl. Produced Potez 25 under licence, followed by Avia BH-33, prototype of IM recon flying-boat and small batch of IOM. Ambitious IK fighter (22 April 1935) was built in small series in large new factory at Zemun, but all facilities destroyed in war. Zemun repaired 1946 sufficiently to overhaul Soviet military aircraft in Yugoslav service, but absorbed in anonymous nationalized industry.
