Kitfox Lite²: Two-seat training version introduced in 2000. Has 37.0 kW (49.6 hp) Rotax 503 UL-2V engine. Tricycle version first flown 15 February 2001. Production was halted in 2003 due to delays with the FAA Sport Pilot rule; 10 aircraft were due to be built in last batch.
CUSTOMERS: 200 kits and 10 factory-built aircraft delivered by January 2001.
COSTS: Kitfox Lite kit US$15,495 including engine, factory built US$21,995 (2003). Kitfox Lite² kit at close of production was US$21,995 including engine, factory built US$28,995 (2003).
DESIGN FEATURES: Generally as for Kitfox. Meets FAR Pt 103 standards. Wings fold for storage. Quoted build time 200 hours; wing pre-built by factory.
FLYING CONTROLS: Manual, including flaperons.
STRUCTURE: Welded 4130 steel fuselage; aluminium wing spar; aluminium and wood wing, all fabric-covered.
LANDING GEAR: Tricycle or tailwheel configuration; free-castoring 6 cm (2½ in) tailwheel. 4.00-6 main tyres. Individual wheel brakes. Options include floats and skis.
POWER PLANT: One 26.1 kW (35 hp) Skystar/2SI Series 460 engine driving Tennesse two-bladed propeller through 2.5:1 reduction gear. Alternatively, a 37.0 kW (49.6 hp) Rotax 503 can be fitted. Fuel capacity 19 litres (5.0 US gallons; 4.2 Imp gallons) in Lite; 38 litres (10.0 US gallons; 8.3 Imp gallons) in Lite².
EQUIPMENT: Kitfox Lite option includes BRS parachute (standard on factory-built examples).
