TYPE: Light business jet.
PROGRAMME: First flight scheduled for fourth quarter 2005; FAA FAR Pt 23 certification for single pilot and known icing operation, expected in fourth quarter 2006, followed by first customer deliveries in January 2007.
CUSTOMERS: Target markets are air taxi and fractional ownership operators. Launch customer UltraJet LLC ordered 100 on 8 October 2003.
COSTS: Approximately US$2 million (2003). Estimated direct operating cost less than US$1 per mile.
DESIGN FEATURES: Unswept low wing with blended winglets; T-tail with swept fin and tailplane.
FLYING CONTROLS: Conventional and manual. Electrically actuated trim tab in port elevator; spring tab in port aileron. Control actuation by pushrods (ailerons) and cables. Single-slotted flaps with electrical actuation. Airbrakes.
STRUCTURE: Primary structure of aluminium alloy, steel alloy, stainless steel and titanium, with composites control surfaces and non-structural fairings. IAI will manufacture airframe components, with final assembly in the USA.
LANDING GEAR: Retractable tricycle type. Electric actuation. Nosewheel steerable ±15°.
POWER PLANT: Two pod-mounted FADEC-equipped turbofans, each rated at 5.78 kN (1,300 lb st) at ISA +10°C. Two wing fuel tanks, combined capacity 1,196 litres (316 US gallons; 263 Imp gallons).
ACCOMMODATION: Pressurised cabin accommodates six to eight; internal and rear (external) baggage compartments; three cabin windows per side; door on port side forward of wing.
SYSTEMS: Pressurisation system maintains 2,440 m (8,800 ft) cabin environment at certified ceiling of 12,500 m (41,000 ft). Electrical system 28 V DC, including two starter/generators and two Ni/Cd batteries; external power receptacle. Vapour cycle air conditioning. Anti-icing system. Emergency oxygen for all occupants.
AVIONICS: Integrated all-glass cockpit with three EFIS screens.
