With ample backing, Witteman-Lewis Aircraft Corp. formed at Newark, NJ, 1919, building impressive airfield and factory at Hasbrouck Heights (later called Teterboro), where basic income was conversions of D.H.4 and DH-4 to post-war versions. A.F. Arcier (ex-Handley Page) designed FA-1 mail carrier (2 x Liberty), FA-2 5-seater (Liberty) and FA-10 flying-boat (2 x Cosmos Jupiter). As low bidder got job of building giant Barling Bomber as Witteman-Lewis NBL-1 (22 August 1923). Bought by Fokker 1924.
