COMMANDER AIRCRAFT COMPANY
Company (a division of Aviation General Inc since 1998) acquired manufacturing, marketing and support rights for Rockwell Commander 112 and 114 from Gulfstream Aerospace Corporation in 1988; spares and support services for existing aircraft and manufacturing based in Oklahoma; 120 employees in 1999. Commander 114 remains in production, including TC version introduced in 1995. Deliveries in 1997-2002 comprised 14, 13, 13, 21, 10 and seven (none in final quarter). In March 2000, Commander announced the introduction of the 115, an updated and refined replacement for the 114.
Factory floor area 9,638 m² (103,742 sq ft). Commander has over 140 authorised service centres worldwide.
Commander filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection on 27 December 2002, citing US$1 million cash flow shortfall and US$3.7 million total net indebtedness.
