TYPE: Side-by-side lightplane/kitbuilt.

PROGRAMME: Completed initially (c/n 003, SP-PUH) as P.220 S-AT2, but subsequently modified to AT-3 with 67.1 kW (90 hp) Limbach L-2400EB3AC engine, revised dimensions and higher weights; given new c/n of 001 and first flown in new configuration 18 January 1998. Received JAR-VLA certification 14 May 1999 and re-registered SP-GUH. Five production aircraft completed and five more under construction by May 2001. German certification then being sought; US planned later.

CURRENT VERSIONS: AT-3 L100: With 74.6 kW (100 hp) Limbach L-2400DF1 flat-four engine and MT-160L-120-2C propeller. Four built by 2003, at which time fourth was under conversion to R100 version; none further expected.
AT-3 R100: With 73.5 kW (98.6 hp) Rotax 912 ULS flat-four and MT-165R-152-2M propeller. Otherwise as AT-3 L100. Standard version from 2003.

CUSTOMERS: Initial customer Telekomunikacja Polska, for support of Polish aero clubs; first two in service by May 2001. At least five built by 2003, including four L100s and one R100. Potential Polish market for 200 over five-year period.

COSTS: Flyaway €79,000 (US$69,000), kit €24,000 (US$22,000), excluding VAT (2001).

DESIGN FEATURES: Changes from AT-2/P.220 S include approximately 1 m² (10.8 sq ft) more wing area, 4 cm (1.6 in) longer cockpit, enlarged fin and rudder, and strengthened landing gear.

FLYING CONTROLS: Manual; piano-hinged ailerons, horn-balanced rudder and all-moving elevator with central anti-balance tab; two-position split flaps (maximum deflection 40°).

STRUCTURE: Primarily metal, with some skins and fairings of carbon or glass fibre.

LANDING GEAR: Non-retractable tricycle type; Cantilever self-sprung main legs with 380x150/15x6.00 wheels and Cleveland hydraulic disc brakes; levered suspension nose leg with 5.00-4 wheel and rubber-in-compression shock absorption. Wheel speed fairings optional.

POWER PLANT: One Limbach or Rotax flat-four engine (see under Current Versions) with MT-Propeller two-blade, fixed-pitch propeller. Fuel capacity (both) 70 litres (18.5 US gallons; 15.4 Imp gallons).

ACCOMMODATION: Two seats side by side; dual controls standard. Hatrack/baggage shelf behind seats, capacity 30 kg (66 lb). Upward-opening one-piece canopy, hinged at front.

AVIONICS: Bendix/King KY 97A transceiver and VFR instrumentation standard; IFR, including KY 197A, KR 87 ADF, KT 76A transponder and directional gyro, optional.
