OMA SUD SKYCAR

TYPE: Five-seat utility twin.

PROGRAMME: Development began 2003 in conjunction with Israel Aircraft Industries; wing aerodynamic design verification subcontracted to VulcanAir; EASA/FAR Pt 23 certification expected in 2007, application having been made on 17 May 2004. No further progress reports by mid-2006.

DESIGN FEATURES: Twin-boom pusher with high, constant-chord wing and high tailplane with sweptback leading-edge; sweptback, tapered twin fins; upturned wingtips. Deep tailbooms are continuations of fuselage sides.

FLYING CONTROLS: Manual. Actuation by pushrods. All-moving tailplane with anti-balance tab port; flaps; twin rudders. Tailplane and rudder trim operated electrically.

LANDING GEAR: Tricycle type; retractable. Electrical actuation, with manual emergency deployment.

POWER PLANT: Two 149 kW (200 hp) Textron Lycoming IO-360-C1E6 flat-four piston engines, each driving a Hartzell two-balde metal constant-speed (hydraulic), fully feathering, pusher propeller.
Fuel tanks in wings; combined capacity 500 litres (132 US gallons; 110 Imp gallons).

ACCOMMODATION: Five persons; two individual front seats; three on bench seat behind; baggage area to rear, accessible from cabin, but also with ‘beaver tail’ (horizontally split} door at rear, between tailbooms. Rear seats removal for additional cargo space.

SYSTEMS: Optional wing de-icing.
