Aeronautica Umbra Trojani, formed by Muzio Macchi 1935 at Foligno, south of Florence, built S.M.79 but never achieved major success with own designs despite several adequate prototypes. Best-known, AUT.18 fighter (1936), 1.000-hp Fiat radial. Remarkable MB.902 fighter (1942) had 2 1,475-hp DB605 in fuselage driving contraprops on wings, but destroyed before first flight.
