The prototype J.T.1 Monoplane first flew on 4 July 1959. Plans are available and by early 1991 about 800 sets had been sold. Approximately 110 plans-built Monoplanes have flown. Wood kits are available in Canada and the USA.
TYPE: Single-seat fully aerobatic homebuilt.
AIRFRAME: All-wood structure, with fabric covering part of wings, elevators and rudder, the remainder plywood covered. Wing section RAF48. Non-retractable tailwheel landing gear standard.
POWER PLANT: One 30 kW (40 hp) Volkswagen 1,500 cc modified motorcar engine. Other engines fitted by constructors include a 30 kW (40 hp) Aeronca E 113, 48.5 kW (65 hp) Teledyne Continental A65, 48.5 kW (65 hp) Textron Lycoming, and a 53.7 kW (72 hp) McCulloch. Aircraft with the 48.5 kW (65 hp) engines have a 10 cm (4 in) longer nose and 25 cm (10 in) longer rear fuselage to maintain the correct CG position. Fuel capacity 32 litres (8.4 US gallons; 7 Imp gallons).
