Paul Schmitt set up factory 1913 at Levallois-Perret (Paris) to build Morane-Saulnier monoplanes, continued during war. About December 1913 original design of biplane tested with entire wing cellule pivoted, incidence variable by pilot. Late 1917 produced prototype 2-seat 'corps reconnaissance' biplane with bombs and 3 guns (280-hp Renault), followed 1918 by centre-float armed seaplane (400-hp Liberty) said to have been tested by US Navy.
