Jean Latham, cousin of famed pre-war Antoinette pilot, opened Société Latham & Cie 1917, building 24 Lévy 40 flying-boats. Three-engined bomber flying-boat was completed as transport, 4 built 1919-20, when company became Latham et Cie, Soc. Industrielle de Caudebec. Ten HB.5 flying-boats (4 x 260-hp Salmson) were followed by Schneider racers, followed by succession of biplane flying-boats with tandem engines: 42, 43, 45 and 47. Explorer Amundsen vanished along with 47.2 on 18 June 1928, after which company amalgamated with SECM, later Amiot.
