Civil engineer (famed for his tower) Gustav Eiffel was also aerodynamicist. Among many other things he patented design of a clean low-wing monoplane 16 May 1917, resulting in construction of Laboratoire Eiffel monoplane, also called Breguet LE because Breguet did assembly, wings coming from SC de Levallois. Flew 28 March 1918, 140 mph on 180 hp. Service Technique wanted it rebuilt as biplane. Same design appeared post-war as LeO 9.
