Robert Esnault-Pelterie, commonly REP, was one of greatest pioneers of aeroplane, engines and rockets. Biplane gliders made first use of ailerons October 1904, but REP.1 with REP engine 1907 used warping. Subsequent aeroplanes progressively better. Parasol and Type N saw service in First World War. Founded Association des Industriels de la Locomotion Aérienne 1908. Vickers bought REP licence 1911.
