TYPE: Side-by-side ultralight/kitbuilt.

PROGRAMME: Developed by Aerostar in Romania; prototype registered YR-6107. Launched at Friedrichshafen Air Show, April 1997; certification August 1997. Initial production aircraft had Jabiru 2200 engines; alternatives available from 1998. By early 2001, examples were operating in Austria, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Hungary and Netherlands.

CURRENT VERSIONS: WT01: Baseline version; tailwheel.
WT02: Nosewheel version introduced early 1999 (D-MWTA, 50th production aircraft, as demonstrator).

CUSTOMERS: Total of 80 built by 2001 (latest data available).

DESIGN FEATURES: Bears strong outward resemblance to Murphy Rebel. Built by Aerostar in Romania for distribution out of Germany. Wings fold alongside fuselage for storage or transportation on aluminium trailer.

FLYING CONTROLS: Conventional and manual elevators and ailerons pushrod-operated, rudder cable-operated. Horn-balanced tail surfaces; trim tab in port elevator; ground-adjustable tab on rudder. Flaps.

STRUCTURE: Main structure is metal monocoque, with fabric-covered ailerons and flaps.

LANDING GEAR: Non-retractable tailwheel type with steerable tailwheel via spring links to rudder horn. Mainwheel size 8.00-6, tailwheel size 200x50. Oversize Tundra wheels and tyres optional. Cable-operated disc brakes. Nosewheel (rubber-in-compression, with repositioned mainwheel legs) optional; nosewheel size 140x6.

POWER PLANT: One 59.7 kW (80 hp) Jabiru 2200, 59.6 kW (79.9 hp) Rotax 912 UL, 78.3 kW (105 hp) Mid West Hawk, 89.5 kW (120 hp) Jabiru 3300 or 73.5 kW (98.6 hp) Rotax 912 ULS driving a Junkers ground-adjustable pitch, carbon fibre or Kremen SR 2000 XC three-blade, variable-pitch (electric) wooden propeller. Fuel in two wing tanks, combined capacity 80 litres (21.1 US gallons; 17.6 Imp gallons).

ACCOMMODATION: Prototype had third seat in rear of cabin, hence a spacious cockpit area.

AVIONICS: Becker, Filser and Icom avionics to customer's choice.

EQUIPMENT: Junkers Magnum speed parachute emergency rescue system and gliding towing equipment both optional.
