ZEPPELIN LUFTSCHIFFTECHNIK GmbH

Zeppelin Luftschifftechnik (ZLT) was formed in September 1993 for the development and production of new technology (NT) airships. Luftschiffbau Zeppelin GmbH, of which ZLT is a subsidiary, was founded by Count Ferdinand von Zeppelin in 1908 and still exists under the auspices of the Zeppelin Foundation. It had a mid-2001 workforce of 75 full-time and 25 freelance personnel.
Corporate members (percentage shareholdings in parentheses) are ZF Friedrichshafen AG (44.8), Luftschiffbau Zeppelin GmbH (38.9), Zeppelin GmbH (11.5) and ZF-Lemförder Metallwaren AG (4.8). Deutsche Zeppelin Reederei (DZR) formed in January 2001 as 100 per cent subsidiary of Zeppelin Luftschifftechnik; will be developed as operator, pilot training school and service centre for latter's airships; first commercial service flown 15 August 2001. (First-generation Zeppelin undertook initial passenger service on 24 June 1910.)
