Formed at Lindau, on Bodensee (Lake Constance), August 1914 near parent Zeppelin-Werke at Friedrichshafen. Chief designer Claudius Dornier charged with building largest possible metal flying-boats. Produced Rs I, completed October 1915, followed by Rs.II, III and IV, even bigger 8-engined Rs.V remaining on paper. Works at Lindau and Seemoos later formed part of Dornier empire renamed Dornier GmbH October 1922.
