EADS DEUTSCHLAND GmbH
On 14 October 1999, former DaimlerChrysler Aerospace and France's Aerospatiale Matra signed agreement for merger as basis of EADS, CASA of Spain following suit on 2 December 1999. EADS officially formed as an International company on 10 July 2000.
German component known until mid-2003 as EADS Military Aircraft, when merged with Defence and Civil Systems under new title.

EADS DEFENCE and SECURITY DIVISION
Major aerospace activities of Group include light fighter/trainer aircraft, airborne reconnaissance systems, aircraft armament, disarmament verification systems (the former PRISMA system and BICES), simulation and training systems, and research into advanced aircraft systems, materials and manufacturing technologies. Division also makes Airbus subassemblies. Augsburg, Manching and Ottobrunn plants employed 5,750 personnel in 2000; EADS Military Aircraft employees then totalled 7,400 in all countries.
Participates in the Mako and Eurofighter Typhoon programmes and upgrades F-4F Phantom ICE (improved combat effectiveness) and Panavia Tornado. Unit offers upgrades for MiG-29 under agreement signed with RSK 'MiG' in June 1999; completed radar upgrade of NATO E-3A AWACS fleet in 2000.
Spanish inputs include support of EF-18 Hornet, AV-8B Harrier, Mirage F1, P-3 Orion, C-101 Aviojet, F-5B Freedom Fighter and E.26 Tamiz.
