Darmstadt Technischehochschüle (technical high school) established aviation society 1921 which to this day produces brilliant series of competition sailplanes. Between wars produced powered aircraft, notably D 18 (1928) cantilever cabin biplane, D 22 (1931) cantilever aerobatic biplane, and D 29 (1936) advanced high-performance tandem-seat monoplane.
