W.T. Reid became chief designer at Bristol when Barnwell left in a huff to find a new career in Australia. He failed to do so, returned to Bristol and was given back his old job, to Reid's chagrin. So Reid went to Canada and in 1928 formed Reid Aircraft Co. at Montreal, building Rambler tandem-cockpit biplane. December 1928 merger with Curtiss resulted in Curtiss-Reid.
