The Lockheed L-1011 TriStar was the third widebody airliner to enter commercial operations, following the Boeing 747 and the McDonnell Douglas DC-10. Lockheed built 250 TriStars between 1968 and 1984. Nine aircraft are still in service with the RAF as tanker transports. Eight others were in commercial service as of 2010.
