Type: Carrier-based anti-submarine aircraft
First flight: 21 January 1972
Although designed as the US Navy's last dedicated carrier-based anti-submarine warfare aircraft, the Lockheed S-3 Viking became a jack-of-all-trades platform, taking on carrier onboard delivery, fleet tanker, electronic surveillance, and precision attack roles. On 1 May 2003, this Viking served as the first-ever Navy One, being used to fly President George W. Bush to the USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN-72) for a televised speech.
