Section for experimental aircraft construction formed 1930 at VVA under Zhukovskii to manage existing Stal (steel) programmes for aircraft with minimal aluminium. Stal-2 and -3 were high-wing cabin aircraft, -5 flying wing, -11 high-speed low-wing light transport and Aviatourist small twin-engined racer mainly of Bakelite-ply.
