BEAGLE

Beagle (British Executive & General Aviation Ltd) formed October 1960 as subsidiary of Pressed Steel Co. to build Austers and other light aircraft. Reorganized 1962, no longer linked with Pressed Steel, 2 subsidiaries being absorbed into new Beagle Aircraft Ltd. Former Beagle-Auster at Rearsby built Auster-type Husky, Terrier, Airedale and AOP.11. Former Beagle-Miles at Shoreham built newly designed B.206 and B.242 (derived from B.218) light twins. Bankrupt 1970, nationalized and owned by Government (Ministry of Technology). Auster assets sold to Hants & Sussex. Remaining work, production of Pup and derived Bulldog trainer, passed after collapse to Scottish Aviation.
