OMF GmbH acquired aerodynamic technology for the Stoddard-Hamilton GlaStar from Arlington Aircraft Developments in March 1998. Company's 1,500 m² (16,146 sq ft) factory on Trollenhagen airfield at Neubrandenburg was opened on 10 May 2000. In September 2001, the company had 54 employees; it had hoped to expand to 300 by 2004.
In April 2003, work started on a new C$25 million, 10,000 m² (107,650 sq ft) manufacturing facility for OMF Aircraft at Trois-Rivières, Québec, Canada; the first 2,500 m² (26,900 sq ft) was completed in August 2003.
OMF GmbH entered voluntary bankruptcy on 9 December 2003, but its Canadian branch, OMF Aircraft, 70 per cent owned by OMF GmbH, was unaffected, and expected to launch its own production in May 2004.
